LUDOWICI - Robert L. Parker, 84, of Ludowici passed away Sunday, July 14, 2013, at the Candler Hospital in Savannah. He was born in Paynesville, W.Va., and lived in Long County for 54 years. He retired as a job superintendent in the construction field and was a U.S. Army
veteran of the Korean Conflict
, where he was a tank demonstrator. He was passionate about his coon hunting and enjoyed many years as a member of the Piney Woods Coon Hunters. He also was a member of the English Breeders and Fanciers Association. He was a member of Compass Worship Center in Ludowici.
His daughter, Pat Zoucks, his parents, three brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.
Survivors are his wife of 62 years, Hazel Morgan Parker; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Randy Wilson; sons and daughter-in-law, Bobby Parker, Dale and Wanda Parker, and Donald "Gobbler" Parker, all of Ludowici; son-in-law, Johnny Zoucks of Shellman Bluff; a sister, Rachel Charles of Lincolnton, N.C.; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was Tuesday, July 16, at Compass Worship Center in Ludowici.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, at Compass Worship Center with the Revs. David Holton and Gene Parker officiating.
Burial will follow in the Baggs Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Patrick Zoucks, Gary DeLoach, Bubba Parker, Will Parker, Robert Parker and Mike Fuller.
Honorary pallbearers will be current and former members of Piney Woods Coon Hunters.
