Thomas "Hardy" Howard Sr., 77, of Hinesville, died Monday, July 7, 2014, in Candler Hospital after an extended illness. The Charlton County, Georgia, native had lived for many years in Wayne County and Hinesville. He was a member of the South Newport Baptist Church in McIntosh County and was an Atlanta Braves fan. He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Georgia "Mae" Martin Howard.
Survivors are a daughter, Mary Summerall of Hinesville; three sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas Hardy Jr. and Sandra Howard of Middleburg, Florida, Tracey and Lindsey Howard of Ludowici, and Kenneth Shawn Howard of Valdosta; a sister, Voncil and Elton Teel of Salem, Illinois; a brother, Albert and Nan Howard of Jesup; seven grandchildren, Tomy Howard III, Heather Boulineau, Misty Kicklighter, Dylan Howard, Lisa Howard, Jagger Howard and Kindle Grace Howard; three great-grandchildren, Logan, Owen and Tyler Kicklighter; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, at the Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Eric Grissino officiating. Interment will be in the Akin Memorial Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant, Georgia. Active pallbearers will be family.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
