Jerry C. Hodges, 74, died at his Savannah residence on Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, after a long illness.

A native of Long County, he lived in Savannah for more than 50 years. Mr. Hodges was retired from civil service, having been a firefighter at Hunter Army Airfield for 30 years. Prior to that, he worked for the Savannah Fire Department and served in the U.S. Air Force.
He is survived by three sons, Jerry R. Hodges (Karen) of Stuart, Fla., Marc Hodges (Carol) and David Hodges (Hildi) of Savannah; two brothers, Mickey Hodges (Helen) and Julian Hodges (Merry) of Gum Branch; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. Graveside funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at Elim Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Shaun Hodges, Chris Sparks, Donald Sample Jr. and John Hodges.
