He served his community as director of the Coastal Soil and Water Conservation District.
Tommy was a Selectman Emeritus of the Midway Congregational Church and Society and was a member of the Society of Professional Military Engineers. Mr. Houston was a member of Ludowici United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post 168 in Hinesville.
He leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Margaret Houston of Ludowici; two sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Erin Houston of Ludowici, retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. Thomas III and Barb Houston of Castle Rock, Colo.; and one of his greatest pleasures, a grandson, Weyman.
