Mr. Bobby Jerome Fabain, of Walthourville, was born May 17, 1940, in Hinesville, to the late Emma Walthour and Bonnie Fabain.
He attended Liberty County schools. He was employed at Coastal Utilities for many years. Bobby was called early in his career to try out for professional baseball, but chose a different career as the manager of Sugar Hill Night Club and later as the owner of Bo'Maz Supper Club for 22 years. He was owner of the Bo'Maz Blue Devils baseball team of Walthourville and enjoyed playing and watching the game.
He gave time to community service and as an elected official of Walthourville City Council for two terms. He was also elected and served as a Liberty County commissioner for two terms. He served as a member of the board of directors for the Liberty County Hospital. He was a member of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband, father and friend to many in the community.
Bobby departed this life on Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah surrounded by his family.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, David Walthour, Oliver Walthour, James Walthour and Andrew Walthour; his daughter, Carol Elaine George Phillips, his granddaughters, Tameka Nicole Bryant and Terasa LaJoyce Evans; sister-in-law, Bobbie Steele; brothers-in-law, Michael Barron, Johnny Hamilton and Carl Hamilton.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 25 years, Mazie Maria Fabain; his children, Cathy Anderson (Lee Curtis), Shirley Gaulden, Portia Evans (Gregory), Gregory Pray (Karla), Dwane Fabain, Wilbert Richardson and Carl Richardson; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Emma Walls (Joe), Earnestine Walthour, Olivia Brown, Juanita Vinning (James), Rose Mary Stewart, Vivian Hulbert, Juanita Leonard, Christine Carter (Curtis) and Sandra Lowe (Larry); brothers, Bobby Walthour Jr., Samuel Walthour (Pat), LeArtist Baker(Carol), Conell Baker, Marian Baker (Georgia), Allen Reese Jr. (Catherine); brother-in-law, William Hamilton; sisters-in-law, Mary Mallard, Carrie Kish (Don), Nancy Hamilton, Lurena Hamilton and Mary Hamilton; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins other relatives and devoted friends; as well as a special devoted friend, George Bacon.
His wake will be from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 18, at Bo'Maz, 4850 W. Oglethorpe Highway in Walthourville.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19, at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 1370 Shaw Road in Hinesville. The Rev. Dr. James L. Evans will officiate.
Burial will be in Oglethorpe Memorial Park in Hinesville.
