Clinton Abraham Roberts, 57, departed this life March 7, 2014, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah.
He was born March 17, 1956, to Charles and Mattie Mae Roberts in Midway. He attended the Liberty County School System. Clinton was baptized and accepted Jesus at an early age. He served faithfully as a church sexton, sang in the Thomas Sears Gospel Choir, served as church elder, was on the Presbyterian men usher board and held posts on the church-finance committee and the building-and-ground committee - all at the Midway First Presbyterian Church. Above all else, though, he had his transportation ministry. Clinton served faithfully in all of these auxiliaries until his health failed. His civic affiliations included membership with the Midway Volunteer Fire Department and a past master of Limerick Lodge No. 437.
Clinton met his soul mate, Angel, in Midway, and they were happily married for 14 remarkable years. Clinton enjoyed being with his wife, family, friends and his community. He was employed at Western Sizzlin', Morrison Cafeteria and Dutch Pantry Restaurant, where he enjoyed being a cook. During his employment at Liberty Elementary, he experienced love and joy for children for 22 years.
Clinton was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Horace Roberts.
Elder Clinton A. Roberts is survived by a loving and devoted wife, Angel T. Roberts of Hinesville; four sisters, Mary Ann, Patricia, Dellar and Gaye Roberts, all of Midway; one brother, Sam E. Roberts of San Antonio, Texas; two loving aunts, Juanita Clancy and Willie Mae (Eddie Lee) Bryant, both of Midway; two uncles, Levern (Agnes) Clancy of Midway and Willie Clancy Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla.; 23 nieces and nephews; four godchildren; special friends; and a host of loving relatives and friends.
His wake will be from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Friday, March 14, at Dorchester Funeral Home in Midway.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 15, at the Midway First Presbyterian Church, Coastal Highway 17 North, Midway. Burial will be in the church's cemetery.
