Retired 1st Sgt. David L. Brock, 71, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2015, at Memorial Health University in Savannah after a long illness.
Mr. Brock was a native of Morgantown, West Virginia, who had lived in Hinesville since 1980, having moved here from Germany. He was born Nov. 10, 1943, to the late William and Willa Brock. Mr. Brock was a veteran of the United States Army, having retired after 24 years of service. He served in Vietnam, where he received many awards, ribbons and medals with the 11th ACR Bravo Troops.
Mr. Brock was a truck driver and an avid fisherman. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.
Mr. Brock is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary Lynn Brock of Hinesville; son, David William Brock of Wisconsin; daughter, Barbara Ellen Ross of Hinesville; brother and sister-in-law, William Sanford Jr. and Debbie Brock of West Virginia; sister and brother-in-law, Kaye and Louis Pompili of West Virginia; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, June 1, at the Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home in Flemington. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 2, at the Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Flemington with Deacon Chad Chaffee officiating. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. at the Georgia Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Glennville. Full military honors will be rendered.
Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
