David Nelson Ryals, 47, of Riceboro passed away Monday, April 8, 2013, in Winter Haven, Fla., after a sudden illness.

He was born in Hinesville and had lived in the Jones community all of his life. He was a supervisor with Copper Station Farms in Jones for the past several years, was a former employee of NAPA in Darien for 15 years, and a former deputy with McIntosh County Sheriff's Department. David was a firefighter with the Jones Volunteer Fire Department and was a member of the Townsend Church of God.
His father, Ernest K. Ryals and brother, Ernest J. Ryals preceded him in death.
Survivors are his wife, Brenda Newsome Ryals of Jones; two daughters, Tabitha Guy and Samantha Guy, both of Ellabell; a son, Paul Guy of Statesboro; his mother, Edna Mae Ryals of Riceboro; a sister, Jane Pointek of Riceboro; five brothers, Albert Ryals, Paul Ryals and Matthew Ryals, all of Riceboro, Johnny Ryals of Hinesville and Mark Ryals of Frankston, Texas; a granddaughter, Kaylee Brown; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, April 11, at the Townsend Church of God.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Friday, April 12, at the Townsend Church of God with the Rev. Robert Edenfield officiating.
Burial will follow in the Davis Cemetery in McIntosh County.
Pallbearers will be Robbie Ryals, Daniel Ryals, Brian Ryals, Lennie Pointek, Joey Pointek and Cody Simmons.
Howard Funeral Home of Ludowici is in charge of the arrangements.
