Edwin Alvarado, 53, of Hinesville died Friday, May 30, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah.

A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., he had lived in Hinesville the past 16 years. He retired from the U.S. Army after 18 years of service. He was a member of Bethesda Church in Hinesville.
Surviving are his wife, Luz Alvarado of Hinesville; three daughters, Jenny (Michael) Wray of San Antonio, TX, Jessica (Kelsey) Lopez and Janet Alvarado of Hinesville; his mother, Angelita Caraballo; three sisters, Ada Vega, Lucy Alvarado and Letty Alvarado; a brother, Albert Alvarado; five grandchildren, Destine Wray, Donte May, Enrico Wray, Michaela Wray and Alana Lopez.
Visitation was Sunday evening at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel.
His memorial service will be 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bethesda Church in Hinesville.
A committal service will follow at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville with full Military Honors.
