Mrs. Helen Leola Golden Willis, 74, of Midway departed this life on June 3, 2012, in Hinesville.
She was born to the late Benjamin and Leola Golden Sr. in Midway. She received her education in the Liberty County School System.
On Aug. 4, 1957, she was united in holy matrimony to James Otis Willis. In this union, one son was raised. She worked in the school system in Germany and at Holton's Seafood in Midway as a professional cook.
In 1983, she became a member of Zion Temple Holiness Church. She was a very faithful and devoted member. In February 2000, she became a mother of her church. She remained one until her departure from this earthly realm.
Mother Willis leaves to mourn her departure, her loving husband of 54 years, James Otis Willis; a son, Charles Willis of Glennville; four grandchildren, Jennifer Scott (Eugene) Miller of Atlanta, Shakelliah King of Brunswick, Sherity Walthour of Hinesville and Antonio Proctor of Hinesville; nine great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mother Edith Mobley, the Rev. Adeline Holmes, Evangelist Carrie Worlds of Midway, and Deaconess Sylvia Williams of Walthourville; five brothers, Elder Thomas (Gloria) Golden, Ralph Henry (Susan Ann) Golden of Midway, William (Shirley) Golden of Hinesville, Johnnie Lee Golden and Charles Golden of Miami, Fla.; four sisters-in-law, Helen Golden of Eustis, Fla., Dollie Mae Golden of Midway, Helen (Donnie) Gambrell of Anderson, S.C., Dorothy Smith of Gary, Ind.; one brother-in-law Claude (Pauline) Willis of Anderson; one uncle and one aunt Melvin and Julia Mae Robertson of Midway; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, church family and friends.
Her wake will be from 7-8 p.m., Friday, June 8, at Zion Temple Holiness Church, 6102 E. Oglethorpe Highway, Midway.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 9, at St. James Community Center, 1140 Holmestown Road, Midway. The Rev. K.L. Walthour will officiate.
