SFC Henry L. Dick (U.S. Army, ret.), 58, of Hinesville died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, at Piedmont Henry Hospital in Stockbridge after a sudden illness.
A native of Guyana, South America, he lived in New York for several years before leaving for a career in the United States Army. He retired after 30 years of service, including tours in both the Persian Gulf War and the Iraq War. After retiring from the Army, he worked for QinetiQ North America as a civilian contractor in Afghanistan.
He is survived by his wife, Myong S. Dick of Hinesville; sons, Henry Lee Dick of McDonough and Allen Dick (Tracie) of Hinesville; three sisters, Jean Ward, Margaret Wickham and Veronica Wickham-Graham; five brothers, Dennis Primo, Charles Dick, Derrick Wickham, Samuel Wickham and David Wickham; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel, with the Rev. Dr. Sinclair Thorne officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at 3 p.m. in Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville.
Pallbearers will be the United States Army Honor Guard, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart.
