James Garrett Bell, 49 of Hinesville, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at Candler Hospital in Savannah.
James was born in Detroit, Mich., on July 12, 1963. His parents are Beady and Thomas Bell. James joined the United States Navy on Dec. 4, 1984, and retired Dec. 31, 2004.
James was united in holy matrimony to his childhood sweetheart, Karen Elaine Bell, on Aug. 28, 2004.
James is survived by his father, Thomas, and his wife, Loretta; his wife, Karen; his three sons, Bryan, Aaron and Thomas; his grandchild, Bryce; his sister-in-law, Karla; his two nieces, Keisha and her husband, Stuart, and Kiara; his great nephew, Kamar; and numerous cousins and friends.
The viewing will be from 6-7 p.m., and the memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, in the Frank V. Givens Memorial Chapel at Dorchester Funeral Home, 7842 E. Oglethorpe Highway in Midway.
James will return home to Detroit, where his final resting place will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Mich.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be taken to South Georgia Bank, Hinesville Office, 737 S. Main St.
