John E. Ford Jr., 68, of Savannah departed this life on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014.
John E. Ford Jr. was born June 26, 1945, in Manhattan, N.Y., to the late Daisy and John Ford. He had 10 siblings altogether.
John Jr. was not a perfect man, he was not a perfect father, son, brother or husband. Although he was not all of these things, one thing that he was, was a perfect soldier, a lifetime soldier, a career soldier.
John was a retired Vietnam veteran, whose extensive military career took him around the world to faraway places that he dreamed of as a little boy, such as Germany, Korea, Isreal and Egypt. For 24 years, John served his country with pride and dignity. A man with a GED, who taught himself the mastery of computer science and logistics, John became a heavily relied upon resource to our United States Army. He was also a 25-year retiree of AAFES.
John was an avid fisherman who enjoyed the ocean and it is by his request that he will be returned to the ocean.
John spent his last moments on Earth peacefully with his daughter, Quenby, and his daughter in love, Timeka Howard, by his side. John will be dearly missed and it is the desire of the family that he be remembered for his commanding presence, his tall stance, his deep voice, his forte for detail and organization, and his complete love of service.
We salute you, John E. Ford Jr!
