John Golden Jr. of Midway passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at St Joseph Hospital.
He was born Nov. 27, 1940, in the McIntosh community of Midway to the late John Golden Sr. and Josephine Holmes. John was educated in the public school system of Liberty County. John worked as a producer in the logging workforce for many in Liberty County, retiring from Bev Mar logging company after years of dedicated service. John was a person who wanted everyone to do what was right.
Those who remain to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife, Ella M. Golden of Midway; three daughters, Lynn D. (James) Cannon of Hinesville, Donna L. (Elijah) Roberts of Brunswick and Earlean Walker of Midway; one son, Larry B. (Shelia) Golden of Midway; stepmother, Anna Bell Grant of Jesup; two uncles, Bernice Robertson and Tom (Madgeline) Holmes, both of Midway; three sisters, Jannie V. Perry of Hinesville, Earnestine (John Arthur) Roberts of Midway and Josephine (Manuel) McNeal of New Jersey; five brothers, Israel (Eunice) Walthour, Josh (Louise) Golden, Dave (Joyce) Golden and Tom Golden, all of Philadelphia, Pa., and Willie C. (Fannie) Golden of South Carolina; 12 grandchildren, Jeremiah, Eric, Lorraine, Jonathan, Sierra, Clarencea, Damaris, Tyrell, Tiffany, Ashley, Chanya, and John Louis; seven brothers-in-law, Junior Lee (Rosemary) Green of Hinesville, Everson (Marjorie) Greene of South Carolina, David (Delma) Lloyd, Terry (Pamela) Lloyd of Jacksonville, Jerry (Karin) Lloyd of Nevada, James (Mary) Grant of Jesup and Autry Milton of Brunswick; and a host of others relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, at Dorchester Funeral Home in Midway.
His funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, at St. James Church of Christ in the Holmestown community of Midway. His body will be placed in the church at Noon for viewing prior to the funeral. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
