Leslie Kuuipo "Ipo" Quartero, 62, of Hinesville died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014.
He was born to the late Andres Kuuipo and Primrose Mehealani Quartero on Feb. 19, 1952, in Honolulu, Hawaii.
He married Danielle Annamarie on Aug. 30, 1980, and they lived together in Honolulu, before relocating to Hinesville in 2013.
In 1976, he joined the United States Army. He was honorably discharged and had a distinguished military career, while receiving numerous Army accommodations, too include the Army Achievement Medal 20LC, the Army Accommodation Medal 20LC, the Army Good Conduct Medal 50LC. He served in multiple overseas assignments.
Mr. Quartero was an avid outdoorsman. His hobbies were fishing, basketball and golf. He was an outstanding musician, as well as being an active member in the local Pacific Islander community.
Ipo is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Danielle Quartero; 15 children, Andres Kuuipo Quartero Jr., Kawika Quartero, Uilani Dodd, Keola Quartero, Kaiwakapu Quartero, Keala Quartero, Kauai Quartero, Kaeo Rowland, Kaleo Quartero, Kuuipo Quartero, Kainoa Quartero, Kekai Quartero, Kaulana Quartero, Kamalani Quartero and Kaneila Quartero; 22 grandchildren, Trevor, Lehua, Kimo, Kawika Jr., Keoni, Xavier, Kahiau, Kira, Kaitlyn, Anela, Kalani, Josiah, Julian, Donte, Kaili, Kameli, Kyrie, Robert, Saleah, Kamalani, Kamalei and Anaya; and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Thursday, March 6, at Thomas L Carter Funeral Home in Flemington.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 6, in the Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Flemington with Bishop Savea officiating. Full military honors will be rendered.
Pallbearers will be Kaneila, Kawika, Keola, Keala, Kaleo, Kuuipo and Kekai Quartero.
