Linford Jean Clark, 83, of Midway, known by most as "Lyn", went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday evening, Jan. 15, 2014, while under the care of Hospice Savannah.
Lyn was born May 23, 1930, in Montour Falls, N.Y., to the late Homer and Gertrude (Chase) Clark. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during the Korean Conflict.
Lyn worked for the United States Postal Service until moving to Georgia in the 1970s. After the move to Georgia he went to work for Hobart, retiring in 1995.
Lyn was everybody's sunshine. He loved to garden, loved flowers, birds, hunting and fishing. Lyn especially loved to spend time with his family. He was a great carpenter and could build anything. Lyn was a pianist and loved music. He always stayed busy doing the things that brought him happiness.
Lyn was a member of First Baptist Church in Midway. He was a man of faith and a godly man to his family. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors are his wife of 61 years, Joann Clark of Midway; sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy Lynn and Carol Clark of Boiling Springs, S.C., and Joel Thomas and Lynn Clark of Midway; daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Anthony Behrens of Midway; sister, Marie Bennett of Montour Falls; grandchildren, Joshua, Rachel, Bethany, Carrie, Wesley, Nicholas, Daffani, Benjamin and Luke; dear sister-in-law, Aunt Bobbie of Midway, six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, at the Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home in Flemington.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18, at the Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. J.C. Wright officiating. Burial will be follow in the Midway United Methodist Church in Midway.
Pallbearers will be Nicholas Clark, Wesley Clark, Luke Eller, Ben Eller, Joshua Clark and Anthony Behrens. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men of Midway First Baptist Church.
