Michael J. Apperti Sr., 94, of Hinesville died Friday, July 11, at his residence.

He was a native of Washington, D.C., and retired from the Washington, D.C., Police Force in 1964. He and his wife, Maryruth, moved to Hinesville in 1978. He was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church.
Surviving are his loving and devoted wife of 75 years, Maryruth Apperti of Hinesville; two daughters, Ruthann Crowley and husband James, and Jean Cartwright of Freeport, Texas; one son, Michael John Apperti Jr. and wife Sue of Crisfield, Md.; a sister, Margaret Bassford of Phoenix, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Michael Crowley and wife Debra of Hinesville, Lynn Dische and husband Steve of Tacoma, Wash., Christy Byrd and husband Mack of Lake Jackson, Texas; great-grandchildren, Travis and Stephen Crowley of Hinesville, Sarah and Veronica Rowland and Nick Dische of Tacoma, Danielle Gray and Christopher Byrd of Lake Jackson; and one great-great-grandson, Parker Keven Gray of Lake Jackson.
Visitation will be 6-7:30 p.m. Sunday at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel, followed by a vigil service at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel with Deacon Richard Halbur officiating.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, Md.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances are suggested to the St. Stephen Catholic Church Building Fund or to The Alzheimer's Association.
Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel of Hinesville is in charge of arrangements.
