Mr. Peter L. Baker of Midway was born July 4, 1953, to the late Mr. Leroy and Mrs. Mary Roberts Baker of Midway. He departed this life on Tuesday, April 16, 2013, in Savannah.

A native of Midway, Peter attended the Liberty County School System and received a full scholarship to attend college. He attended Tuskegee University in Alabama and Harvard College in Massachusetts. He received his master's degree in biology. He was employed at Bradwell Institute as a biology teacher, Liberty Regional Hospital as a lab technician, AAFES in California and Texas as a food service manager, Hardees in Richmond Hill and Hinesville as a manager, and at El Cheapo Convenience Store in Midway as a customer service representative.
At an early age, he was baptized and joined the Midway First Presbyterian Church. As the years rolled by, Peter continued to worship at this congregation in Midway.
His memory will be forever cherished by his niece and best friend, Ms. Rosemary (Robin) Baker Michael of Hinesville; four great-nieces and nephews, Mr. James R. Baker, Miss Brittany L. Baker, Tyre'ke C. Michael, Aaliyah L. Michael; and a host of relatives and friends.
His viewing will be from 1-5 p.m. Friday at Dorchester Funeral Home in Midway.
His funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 27, in the Frank V. Givens Memorial Chapel at Dorchester Funeral Home, 7842 E. Oglethorpe Highway. Pastor Damond Williams of Midway First Presbyterian Church will officiate. Interment will be in Days Memorial Cemetery in Midway.
