Roy Lee Holmes Sr., 60, of Midway, departed this life Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at his residence.
Roy was a lifelong resident of Liberty County. His parents were the late Raymond Holmes Sr. and Ira Bell Robertson Holmes.
Roy worked in the construction industry as a concrete finisher and was a member of Wilderness Missionary Baptist Church.
He leaves to cherish his memory to his wife, Earthaleen Holmes of Midway; four children, Timothy Lee (Katonjia) Varnedoe Sr., Jordan Terrell Holmes, Roy Lee Holmes Jr. and Bernnadette Holmes-Davis; five sisters, Willie Mae Cross of Connecticut, and Ruby (Frank) Miller, Eloise H. Rollins, Rosa Holmes and Minerva (Chester) Barrett, all of Midway; an uncle, Melvin (Julia Mae) Robertson; an aunt, Minnie James of Midway; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Viewing will be from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, June 2, at the Dorchester Funeral Home in Midway.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, June 3, at First Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Hinesville. Visitation at the church Monday will be from noon until the hour of the service.
Interment will be in the Wilderness Church Cemetery.
