William B. "Bill" Cook, 85, of Midway, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, at his daughter's residence under the care of Hospice Advantage.

He was born in Albany, Ga., had lived in Blountstown, Fla., and was raised in Steinhatchee, Fla. He had lived in Ludowici for more than 30 years before residing with his daughter in Midway the last several years.
He was a retired master sergeant with the U.S. Air Force. He had worked in numerous fields, including an exterminator, postal worker and truck driver. He had managed numerous businesses in the Hinesville and Ludowici area. Along with his wife he owned and operated D&D Grocery in Ludowici for many years. He was a member of the Ludowici United Methodist Church.
His wife of 62 years, Mary Doster Cook, preceded him in death.
Survivors are three daughters and sons-in-law, Theresa Bateman and Raymond of Woodstock, Brenda Gentile and Robert, Deborah Ansel and John, all of Midway; a sister, Gwenn Cunard of Forrest Park; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, at the Ludowici United Methodist Church with the Rev. Janet Longenecker-Odegaard officiating.
Visitation will be at the church from 1-2 p.m. prior to the services.
Burial will follow in the Hinesville Cemetery.
