William "Bill" E. Engelhaupt, 86, of Hinesville passed away Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, at Hospice House of Savannah.

He was born Feb. 6, 1927, to the late William Albert Engelhaupt and Marion Bell VanEvery in Hurley, Mo. Bill moved to Hinesville in 1967. Bill was retired from the United States Navy and civil service as an air traffic controller.
He was an active member of St. Philip's Espiscopal Church and held several positions on the vestry, Memorial Garden Committee and others.
Bill's hobbies included gardening and yard work, and working with the Liberty County Humane Shelter and Safe Hollow Animal Sanctuary.
Survivors are one son, William E. Engelhaupt Jr. of North Carolina; two daughters, Wanda Harris of Hinesville and Becky Sellars (Comer) of Hinesville; 10 grandchildren, Lorien Denny of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Rebekah Denny of Cary, N.C., Alyson Gooch of Durham, N.C., Lynsy Harris of Durham, Matthew Harris of Cary, Katie Brown of North Carolina, Skip Engelhaupt of North Carolina, Kimberly Hart of Hinesville, Amanda Smith (Ronnie) of South Fulton, Tenn., Katie Sellars of Hinesville; and 13 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, at St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Hinesville. The Rev. William H. Lea will officiate. Full military honors will be rendered.
