William Henry Smith, 71, of Hinesville, passed away Oct. 5, 2013, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah.

Mr. Smith was born March 22, 1942, in St. Louis, Mo., to Lyman Smith and the late Anna Seckel Smith. He had resided in the Liberty County area for the past 37 years. Mr. Smith was retired from the United States Army and United States civil service. During his career in the military, Mr. Smith earned many awards, medals and ribbons some include: the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation (1st Oak Leaf), Good Conduct Medal (6th Award), National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Army Service Ribbon and the Overseas Service Ribbon with Numeral 3.
Mr. Smith was a member of Wat Santidham Buddhist Temple in Augusta. He will be greatly missed by all of those who knew and loved him.
Survivors are his wife, Pramual Smith of Hinesville; daughters, Watsana Camerlin of Albrightsville, Pa., Supattra Rabin of San Antonio, Texas, and Michile Lam of Madison, Miss.; father, Lyman Smith of Richmond, Mo.; brothers, Walter Smith of Richmond, Richard Smith of Pacific, Mo., and Frank Smith of Kansas City, Mo.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and 18 nieces and nephews.
Services will be private.
