SAVANNAH - William Andrew "Billy" Lamas, 59, passed away peacefully Monday, March 25, 2013.

Born in Savannah, he was a son of the late Andrew and Jacquelyn Lamas and brother of the late Charles Lamas. Billy was a member of St. Paul's Greek Orthodox Church where he served on the board. He graduated from Carlisle Military Academy in 1972 and attended North Georgia Military College. He worked for M.J. Hogan Co. from 1976 to 1999, retiring to run the family business, Lamas Cleaners, established in 1903. Billy was the founder of Sunny Daze Water Sports in 1990 at the Sheraton Hotel on Wilmington Island. He served as chairman of the Historic Savannah Fish Rodeo, as well as chairman for The Children's Miracle Network.
Billy is survived by his loving wife, Catherine of 37 years; son, Andrew Lamas; daughter, Ashley Bowden (Walter); one grandson, whom he adored, Tyler William Bowden; sister, Cherie Holmes (Eddie); brother-in-law, Fred Yarbrough; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, at Fairhaven Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel
Trisagion service will be at 8 p.m. at Hubert C. Baker Chapel.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 pm, Thursday, March 28, at St. Paul's Greek Orthodox Church with Father Vasile Mihai and Father John Caparisos officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwich Cemetery.
