First Sgt. (ret.) Willie Henry Ayers Sr., 63, departed this life on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 in Hinesville.

Mr. Ayers was born on Oct. 26, 1950, to the late Leonard Ayers Jr. and Eldora Ayers of Tallahassee, Fla. He gave his life to Christ at an early age.
He was a graduate of Rickards High School and served in the United States Army from 1970 to 1994. Mr. Ayers would go on to serve in both the Vietnam War and Gulf War, in addition to tours in Colorado, Georgia, Germany and Korea.
On May 27, 1972, he and Ms. Darceal Rosier were united in holy matrimony and one child was born in their union.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Ayers Jr. and sister, Elois Sampson.
He leaves to mourn in his memory, his beloved wife, Darceal Ayers; son, Willie Henry Ayers Jr.; his mother, Eldora Ayers of Tallahassee; brother, Leonard Ayers III of Tallahassee; aunts, Nettie Parker of New Orleans and Leander Broomsfield of Gary, Ind., Dixie Baker of Mississippi and Lillie Otis of Tennessee; sisters-in-law, Pearly Rosier and Nancy Jackson (Edward), both of Tallahassee; brothers-in-law, Larry Rosier (Louise) of Quincy, Fla., Willie Rosier, Charles Rosier, both of Tallahassee, James Rosier of Seattle, Wash., and Henry Rosier (Pamela) of California; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be prior to the funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday, June 9, before the funeral service at noon in the Frank V. Givens Memorial Chapel of the Dorchester Funeral Home, 7842 E. Oglethorpe Hwy., Midway. The Rev. Hermon Scott will officiate.
The committal service with full military honors will be at 3 p.m. in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville.
