Mrs. Ressie Mae George was born March 21, 1921, in Taylors Creek to the late Mr. George and Dollie Frasier. She departed this life on Sunday, June 22, 2014.

On May 10, 1942, she was united in holy matrimony to Leroy George Sr., who preceded her in death. To this union two children were born.
She was educated at Dorchester Academy and worked as a cafeteria worker and cook for Liberty County Schools for many years. She retired from the school system on June 27, 1990.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior at an early age and became a devoted member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the deaconess board, the mission board and sang in the choir. During the later years of her life she became the church mother. She touched the lives of many and many in return were inspirations to her. She loved her church family. She enjoyed cooking and taking care of her flowers.
She leaves to mourn her passing two devoted sons, Leroy (Bessie) George Jr. of Midway and Tommie George of Fayetteville, N.C.; one brother, Willmon Frasier of Hinesville; one sister, Ottie Lee Barnard of Hinesville; three sisters-in-law, Myrtice Bacon, Lizzie Richardson and Mamie Lewis, all of Hinesville; one brother-in-law, Chance Grant of Savannah; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Her wake will be from 7-8 p.m. Friday, June 27, at Dorchester Funeral Home in Midway.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 28, at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Her body will rest in the church from 1 p.m. until hour of service. Overseer M.L. Jackson will officiate.
Interment will be in New Home Cemetery in Flemington.
