Ms. Elsie Mae Baker, 77, of Hinesville, was called home early on Tuesday morning, June 24, 2014, peacefully at home, where she lived with her niece and nephew, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin K. McCray Jr.

Elsie had a long battle with illness, but shall suffer no more.
She was born in Hinesville on July 2, 1936, the daughter of the late Johnnie and Josephine Baker. Elsie attended Liberty County High School and graduated in 1955.
She spent her working career in Washington, D.C., working with National Association of Biomedical Research. She was also a member of Good Shepherd Baptist Church in Allenhurst.
She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Joe Louis Baker and Delois Baker of Hinesville; four nieces, La Tanya Baker McCray of Hinesville, Patricia Render, Debra Carr and Barbara Beals, all of Jacksonville; one nephew, Tron Baker of Hinesville; and a host of great-nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
There will be a viewing from 1-5 p.m. Friday, June 27, at Dorchester Funeral Home in Midway. A memorial service will be graveside at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 28, at Taylor's Creek Cemetery on Highway 84, next to Pleasant Grove AME Church.
