Gary M. Carey, 61, departed this life on Thursday, June 26, 2014, at his residence in Hinesville.
Mr. Carey was born in Miami, Fla., to Paul and Thelma Carey. He joined the United States Air Force and served honorably for more than 23 years. Afterward he and his family made Hinesville their home where he was employed by OMI.
His survivors include his wife, Yolanda D. Carey of Hinesville; two sons, Gary A.M. Carey of Minneapolis, Minn., and Shannon D. Carey of Atlanta; a daughter, LaTaushia J. Carey of Atlanta; three brothers, Paul V. Carey Jr. of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Keith R. Carey and Brian K. Carey of Miami; half-sister, Glendina Cartwright of Colonial, Fla.; four grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
His wake will be from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, at the Dorchester Funeral Home of Midway.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, in the Frank V. Givens Memorial Chapel of Dorchester Funeral Home, 7842 E. Oglethorpe Highway. The Honorable Linnie Darden III will officiate.
Committal services with full military honors will be at 1 p.m. in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 8819 Highway 301 North, Glennville.
Dorchester Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
