Bessie J. Barnett, 89, of Hinesville died Thursday, Oct. 2, at Liberty Regional Medical Center. She entered her eternal home peacefully, surrounded by her loving pastor, family and friends. She has been a resident of the Coastal Manor Nursing Home in Ludowici for the past seven months.
Mrs. Barnett was born Oct. 19, 1918, and raised in Hazard, Ky. She was blessed with a loving husband, Taylor Barnett, of Jackson, Ky., who preceded her in death in 1991 after 45 years of marriage. She also is preceded in death by her parents, John E. and Malvery Jones of Hazard; her grandson, Justin J. Barnett of Memphis, Tenn.; two sisters, Ola Jones of St. Paris, Ohio, and Edna Hudson of Memphis; and six brothers.
Mrs. Barnett was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hinesville.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory and celebrate her long, healthy, happy life her two sons, Berle T. Barnett (Barbara) of McKinney, Texas, and Donald J. Barnett (Teresa) of Byhalia, Miss.; one daughter, Carolyn B. Ginn (Ray) of Hinesville; three grandsons, Jason W. Barnett, Ryan J. Barnett (Ann), and Brent T. Ginn (Karen); three granddaughters, Pamela R. Clapp (Jason), Lori M. Smith (Carl), and Chelsea N. Barnett; four great grandchildren, Jaden A. Barnett, Taylor L. Clapp, Carl T. Smith III and his sister, Madelyn R. Smith; three sisters, Elsie Feltner (Clifford) of Salem, Ala., Erna Dunn (Gene) of Collinsville, Ala., and Loretta Deaton (Ralph) of New Carlisle, Ohio; as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, dear friends and neighbors.
Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Hinesville followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. officiated by Dr. Charles "Chuck" E. Owens. Interment will be in the Oglethorpe Memorial Park in Hinesville.
