Ms. Albertha Bruce, 71, departed this life Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at Candler Hospital in Savannah. She was born Aug. 4, 1941, to the late William and Diana Stevens in Riceboro. Ms. Bruce was educated in the Liberty County School System.

She relocated in 1965 to Buffalo, N.Y., where she worked as a group leader in the environmental department at Roswell Cancer Institution. She retired in 1997 and returned to Riceboro, where she joined Deliverance Church of Christ and she became mother of the church.
Left to cherish Ms. Bruce's memories are two daughters, Jane (Levon) West and Mary Ann Caver of Riceboro; two sons, Nelson and Belton Tyrone Bruce of Buffalo, N.Y.; three sisters, Victoria Howard of Riceboro, Alveta Law of Eulonia and Sylvia Stripling of Jacksonville, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Viewing is from 1-5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at Dorchester Funeral Home, 7842 E. Oglethorpe Highway in Midway.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at First African Baptist Church in Riceboro. Interment will be in First African Baptist Church Cemetery.
