Cecil L. Gordon, 78 of Ludowici, Ga. died Wednesday, February 20, 2013 after an extended illness. The Long County, Ga. native served 38 years as a deputy sheriff and was owner of Gordon's Wrecker Service. He was a member of Ludowici First Baptist Church and had been attending Tibet Baptist Church. He was also a former mechanic and member of the Middleton Lake Hunting Club. He was predeceased by his wife, Esma Iler Gordon; 3 sisters, Valma DeLoach, Thelma Brantley and Joyce Calvert; 4 brothers, Paul, A.C., Allen and Earl Gordon.

Survivors are two daughters and a son-in-law, Sandra and Adam Ensling of Ludowici, Ga., Karen Griffin and fiancé, James A. Holbert of Victoria Tx.; a son, Bryan Gordon of Ludowici, Ga.; a step-daughter, Leah Taylor and Robbie Hughes of Ludowici, Ga.; 5 grandchildren; 3 great grandsons; several nieces and nephews; a special caregivers, Bonnie Stevens and Beverly Voight.
Graveside funeral services will be 11 A.M. Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Baggs Cemetery in Ludowici, Ga. with Randy Mobley officiating. Active pallbearers will be Clifton Brown, Steven Brown, Tony Conrath, Durrell Combs, George Dudley, Kenny Smith and Ken Corbitt. Honorary pallbearers will be his fellow law enforcement officers and judicial friends.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M. Friday, February 22, 2013 at the funeral home.
