Robert W. Curtis, 73, of Hinesville, died Monday, March 18, 2013, at home under the care of Heartland Hospice after a battle with lung cancer.
He was a 1963 graduate of Ft. Valley State University. Robert was a State Farm Insurance agent for more than 33 years. Before joining State Farm, Robert served in the Georgia school system as a principal and coach at Jones County High School in Gray and Treutlen County in Soperton.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah (Frink) Curtis; sons, Roberty W. Jr. of Leesburg, Va., Rodney W. of Nashville, Tenn., and Perryn D. of Huntsville, Ala.; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters, Frances Marie Harvey, Annette Curtis-Williams and Brenda Sue Harris; and brothers, Ernest Eugene and William Marvin.
Robert will be sorely missed by family and friends.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, with a memorial service to begin at 7 at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. Georgia State Rep. Al Williams will speak.
Robert will be lying in state from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, March 21, at Willis Funeral Home in Dalton. Funeral services will at 1 p.m. Friday March 22, at Sonoraville Baptist Church in Calhoun with Linton Jordan speaking. Burial will follow in the Tabernacle Baptist Church Cemetery.
