JACKSONVILLE, Ala. - Graveside memorial services for SFC. Joseph Lamar Cantor, 62, U.S. Army retired, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 25, at Forestlawn Gardens in Anniston, with full military honors.
The Rev. Clif Payne will officiate. Burial will be in Forestlawn Gardens.
Sgt. Cantor died on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at RMC in Anniston.
He is survived by his daughter, Kathrina Mendoza of Alexandria, Va.; two sisters, Jeanenne Cantor-Graham of Huntsville and Mona Cantor-Cherry of Piedmont; his nephew and caregiver, Jerry Collins Jr.; and several nieces and nephews.
Sgt. Cantor served his country in the U.S. Air Force for four years and re-enlisted in the U.S. Army where he retired after 16 years. He served during the Vietnam War, Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Sgt. Cantor was mechanically inclined and loved remodeling automobiles in his spare time.
He was preceded in death by his parents, R.C. and Dahlia Medders Cantor; his grandparents, Noah and Viola Medders; an infant sister, Vista Faye Cantor; and two brothers, Dr. Robert L. Cantor and David L. Cantor.
