EDGE, Norman Garth
November 3, 1942 – Calgary Alberta
May 6, 2015 – London, Ontario
Garth Edge passed away at his home in
London, Ontario on May 5 at the age of
72 years from colon cancer. Garth was the
oldest son of Norman and Claudia Edge of
Cochrane and older brother to Barry and
Lynn Edge. Garth was born November 3 in
Calgary and spent his childhood years on the
ranch in Cochrane AB. He attended school in
Bushy Ridge and Cochrane. Garth's interests were in
the rodeo circuit and he rode Brahma Bulls for a number
of seasons. Garth met his first wife Anne when he was visiting a rodeo buddy,
who was being treated in the rehab unit of the Calgary General where Anne
worked as a physiotherapist. After they married they moved to Bassano to
farm. It was during those farming years that their son Marshall was born.
When Garth and Anne's marriage ended, Garth moved to Lethbridge and
joined his brother Lynn in a Soil and Feed Testing Laboratory. Garth's love
for the outdoors, skiing, hiking, and camping took him to Kalispell, Montana.
There he met his second wife, Barb Procter and they lived in the Columbia
Falls area for more than 20 years. Garth had some health related issues
and in 2012 he moved to London, Ontario to be closer to his family. Garth is
survived by his son Marshall, daughter-in-law Kristine and granddaughters
Mackenzie, Julia and Jacklynn of London ON; his brother Lynn (Judy) of
Cochrane, sister-in-law Linda Edge of Rimbey, first wife Anne Perron of
London ON and second wife Barb Procter of Columbia Falls, Montana as well
as niece Roz Edge Kossowan (Gary) of Cochrane and nephews Timothy Edge
of RImbey and Dean Edge (Jeanine) of Rimbey. Garth was predeceased by
his parents Norman and Claudia Edge of Cochrane and brother Barry Edge of
Rimbey. A private memorial service was held in London ON.
