Jasper, Russell Allan
Russell Allan Jasper went to his eternal sleep on July 30, 2017. Born to Christina and
Stanley Jasper in Brandon, MB. - Feb 25, 1921, he lived in rural MB with his parents
and elder sister Velma until moving to Winnipeg in 1928. Russell held
various jobs until he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in
1940. Russell served at several locations in Canada before being
deployed to a Bomber Squadron in England as an Aero Engine
and Frame Mechanic then later as a Wireless Serviceman
eventually obtaining the rank of Sergeant.
Upon his return, Russell settled in Calgary eventually starting
a career in the oil and gas industry in refining and later sales
with the British American Oil Company. Russell would work and
advance with the company eventually retiring more than 40 years
later as a Regional and Territorial Manager for the company that
became Gulf Canada.
Russell continued to serve the community and Veterans by joining the
Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans in 1945 and volunteered for the Calgary Poppy
Fund since 1984, often seen at the Eau Claire Market. He was a member of United
Commercial Travelers for 64 yrs. and proud brother in the Masonic order.
Russell will be missed by many friends, children, grandchildren, great and great-great
grandchildren, but will be missed most by his loving wife Fiona of nearly 30 married
years and almost 40 together.
A memorial service will be held at the Crowfoot Chapel of McInnis & Holloway Funeral
Homes, 82 Crowfoot Circle NW, Calgary on Friday August 11th, 2017 at 2:00 pm.
Memorial donations may be made in Russell's name to the Calgary Poppy Fund
