Pappas, Patricia L.  
Patricia L Pappas (Magnusen) 04/01/1952 - 07/10/2015 Patricia L Pappas (Magnusen) April 1, 1952 - July 10, 2015. Passed away in her home in Foresthill. She was born Patricia Lynn Cox on April 1, 1952, she lived in Albany, Calif. Her father is Walter W Cox, Sr. and her mother is Lucille M (Buffum, Cox) Fried. She is the youngest of three following Walter W Cox, Jr. and Carolee A DeWitt (Cox). She grew up living in Kensington, Calif. She would spend any time she could with her father's parents, Alice and John Cox, at their cabin on the Family homestead, it was like heaven to her. At 14 years of age she moved in with her mother and stepfather, Sherman M Fried to Downers Grove, Illinois where she lived until she was 18 years old. She married in 1976 to Gregory Pappas, Sr. while living in Lake Oswego, Oregon where she started a family. She has two sons Gregory Pappas, Jr. and Benjamin Pappas she had fun and enjoyed being a loving mom with them. Gregory Sr. and her divorced in 1989 in Vacaville, Calif. Then in 1996 her sister asked her to move to Foresthill, Calif. where she enjoyed a happy and healthy life until 2007 when she was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. She met her current husband Gary Magnusen in 2001 where they lived a happy life despite her cancer and eventually liver disease. At the time and she worked as the Business Manager for the Foresthill Public Utility District when she was forced to retire early after becoming ill. She has had a wonderful life here and have many loving and caring friends. She is survived by her parents, her two sons and her two grandchildren, Sofia and August Pappas both born to her youngest son and his wife Benjamin and Emily, also by her brother Walter and his family plus her sisters son and daughter Mike DeWitt and Lisa Johnson, her stepson Dean Magnusen and grandson Von Magnusen.

Pyorre, Mervin Paul  
Mervin Paul Pyorre 5/7/1942-7/7/2015 Mervin was born in Fort Bragg, Calif., on May 7, 1942 and passed away in Auburn, Calif. on July 7, 2015. Merv graduated from Fort Bragg High School in 1960 and obtained a degree in Forestry from Humboldt State University. He worked for several years in the Assessors Office of Placer County as their timber appraiser. The majority of his career as a forester was spent for the State of California in Mendocino County. He lived in the Ukiah area and also had an office in Fort Bragg. He retired in 2001 and moved back to Cool, Calif. One of Merv's greatest joys in life was endurance riding on his beloved horse Rocky. He and Rocky completed the Tevis (a hundred mile endurance ride) eleven times, and Merv was on the board of the Tevis for several years and also served as the Ride Director. During his retirement years Merv and his wife enjoyed exploring North America in their camper. They also traveled around Europe in a motorhome and visited Finland, the home of Merv's ancestors. He was preceded in death by his parents Arvid Pyorre and Lydia (Koski) Pyorre, his first wife Judith Ann (Howells) Pyorre, and his younger sister Ila (Pyorre) Lawson. He is survived by his wife Judith (Thoms) Lathum- Pyorre, his son Jason and his wife Justine, his son Joshua and his wife Sara, his step-daughter Angela Kollmer and her husband Jeff, his grandson Bruce Butticci and his partner Britteny, his granddaughter McKenzie Pyorre-Butticci, his great grandson Roman, his brother George and his wife Norma, his sister Karen Mertle and her husband Tom. He is further survived by several beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. Merv's final wishes were no funeral services and cremation. An informal gathering of family and friends and scattering of the ashes on the Tevis trail will be held later this year. We would like to thank the staff of Sutter Hospice and the White Hats of Auburn Lake Trails for all of their help and support in Merv's final weeks.
