Barbara Ann Denny
7/25/1931-12/23/2012

Barbara Ann Denny was born on July 25, 1931, in Torrance, California, the third of five children of Milton and Ruby (Garrett) Wenzel. She was raised on the family truck farm and worked in most of the beachside theatres. Later, she graduated from Redondo Union High School.
In Las Vegas, on the 4th of July, 1950, Barbara married a Marine from New York, Robert Charles Denny. They moved from southern California to Sacramento and eventually settled in Meadow Vista, California, where they raised their four children, which Barbara always considered her greatest achievement in life.
A switchboard operator and then bookkeeper, Barbara was, along with her mother, Ruby, an original member of the Meadow Vista Rescue Squad. She became an EMT (and later a CNA), drove their ambulance, and remained a lifetime member of the Placer Hills Fire Department. Her last job, begun at age 61, was rural letter carrier for the Meadow Vista Post Office.
Throughout her life, Barbara was an avid bowler. She was known by all for her helpful, fun, and friendly nature, and for the slow pace of her ball.
On December 23, 2012, despite her fighting spirit, Barbara's body succumbed to complications of ovarian cancer. She is survived by her siblings Milton Wenzel, Jr., Melvin Wenzel, and Carolyn Butler (all of southern California) and Shirlene Loughin (of Alta, California) and their families. She has also left behind to miss her, her husband, Robert, and children Diane Denny, Bart Denny, and Scott Denny (locally) and Eve Denny (of Rigby, Idaho), their spouses and families, and two beautiful granddaughters.
As Barbara requested, no services will be held. May she have a hoot in Heaven!
