Leona Irene Kelley
Leona Irene Kelley Sherman, longtime resident of Loomis, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2013. She was 84 years old.
She was born to the late Oscar and Louise Kelley on March 20, 1929 in Fresno, Calif.
Leona graduated from Sierra High School in 1947. She married the late William Sherman (who she affectionately called Willie) in June of 1947.
Leona and Willie moved to Auburn, Calif. in 1965 with their three teenage sons. In 1978, Leona and Willie settled into a quaint home in a country setting in Loomis, Calif. Leona was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Leona sold real estate for a period of time in the 1980s. However, what she enjoyed most was spending time with her family and friends.
Leona was preceded in death by husband Willie; sons William Sherman and Douglas Sherman; and grandson Michael Sherman.
Leona is survived by son Stephen Sherman and daughter-in-law Pam Sherman; grandchildren Bill Sherman, Tammy Roche, Jason Sherman, Kristy Sherman, and Jenny Pearcy. Leona is also survived by sister Barbara Jean Kelley; six great-grandchildren (Michael, Arlo, Jocelyn, Sophia, Delilah, and Silas), as well as, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Two memorial services will be held. The first will be at Reichert's Funeral Home in Citrus Heights on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at 1:00 pm. The second will be in North Fork, CA. Leona will be laid to rest with Willie in the North Fork Cemetery.
