With sorrow, the family of Margaret Erin Festersen announces her passing on January 7, 2013 .Erin was born October 14, 1918 in Sacramento, Calif., to Margaret M. and Louis J. Nardi. A second generation Californian, raised in Sacramento, she resided in Roseville, Calif., most of her life
Her Devoted husband of 65 years Fred W. Festersen preceded her in death six months earlier.
Erin was very active in various organizations including P.T.A., Campfire Girls, Boy Scouts, Kiwanians and the Red Hat Society She was an early campaign worker for JFK. An avid bridge player, she was also a San Francisco Giants fan who enjoyed attending games with her family.
She was a worldwide traveler who made friends wherever she went and always had a smile for everyone. Her summers were spent at the cabin on the American River built by her father in 1928 and shared with her extensive family and friends for over fifty years..
Erin retired from Pacific Bell Telephone after many years of service and continued to enjoy a full and active life. One of her favorite things was to spend time in San Francisco with her family a tradition started by her mother. She was a gracious woman with a quick laugh, a great sense of humor and inspired all who knew her with her positive attitude and kindness. She loved keeping up with her friends and family on Facebook and was still going strong to the end, having recently returned from a trip to Hawaii with her children. A woman of substance and style and a truly amazing role model she will be deeply missed.
A beloved mother, she is survived by her children: Sheila Fleming (Bill Kerner) of San Diego, Calif., Kathy Lesmeister (Frank) of Winston-Salem, N.C., Fred L. Festersen (Lorna), Kerin Festersen, all of Roseville and, Jon Festersen (Rebecca) of Lincoln, Calif. The devoted Grandmother of Lisa (Richard), Brian, Aimee (Peter), Jennifer (Pete), Bradly (Ileana), Katie (Mike) and Maggie. Great-grandchildren: Cara (Kenny), Kevin, Chris, Eric, Erin, Paige, Maddison (Chris) Carson, Lily, Charlotte and Camilla. Great-Great-Grandchildren: Caleb, Jacob, TaylorGrace Micah and Kennedy. She also leaves behind her sister, Sally Gomez, Sr. Judy Frasinetti; sisters-in-law, Rosalie Pitt and Lilo Nardi; and many nieces and nephews. Erin was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, June De Paepe; and brother, Loius Nardi.
A memorial will be held Saturday, February 9, 2013 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Sierra View Country Club, Alta Vista Ave. Roseville, Calif. (916-782-3741). In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the
