Ruth Ellen Woock(1925 - 2012)

Ruth Ellen Woock

Ruth was born in Oakland, California on January 21, 1925 to Dr. and Mrs. Leo C. Trueblood. She spent her early days in the Piedmont area. She enjoyed trips to the ranch that her grandfather Jungck was developing on the Bear River in Nevada County. She enjoyed camping trips that her mother, father and brother Bill took, while visiting some of the beautiful areas of California. She was able to take lessons in dancing, horseback riding, and swimming at the YMCA. She became an excellent swimmer. Ruth was able to move permanently up to the ranch that was now named Bear River Orchards, in 1934 and enrolled in a one room school called Lone Star in Placer County.
The best part of Ruth's life was when she met the love of her life and husband to be, Walter Woock. With World War ll raging and the prospects of Walter being shipped overseas, they were married in April 1942. It was a beautiful Lutheran wedding at the First Congregational Church on High Street in Auburn.
Ruth and Walter celebrated 60 years of marriage in April of 2002, just previous to Walter's death. Out of this union two outstanding children were born, Sandra and Richard.
Walter was in the Army Air Corp and Ruth became very industrious with gardens, and sewing clothing. She was a wonderful cook and baker, making fabulous desserts. She went to work for the School District as a Cafeteria Worker and retired as Manager of all grammar schools in Auburn. She loved to paint and was a great artist. She was very interested in history and was well read on the subject. She and Walter loved being in the outdoors and the family camped and fished at every opportunity. They both enjoyed rock hounding and Walter had his own business, "Walt's Lapidary." They traveled throughout North America, Canada and Hawaii. They were part owners of a family business, Plastaket Manufacturing Co. home of the "Champion Juicer."
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, brother and husband. She is survived by daughter, Sandra (Terry) of Moscow, Idaho.; son, Richard (Kathy) of Granite Bay, Calif.; sister, Elberta Cain (Bob) of Auburn, Calif.; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A Memorial service will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 11 a.m. The church is located at 1279 High St., Auburn, Calif. We would like to thank the Theresa King family, the Brittany Niece family and Josie Logan for such warm, caring care during Ruth's convalescence.
