Christine A. Ford, of Grass Valley, California, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2013 in Sacramento, surrounded by her family. She had suffered a massive heart attack on February 27, 2013 and despite a determined effort, was unable to recover from her injury.
Chris was born on January 15, 1951, the first-born child of Richard (Dick) and Della Braga. She grew up and attended schools in Redlands, California with her younger brothers, Frank Braga and Richard Braga.
Chris was a lady of many talents. She was a Notary Public and held the Professional Legal Secretary Designation and the Paraprofessional Financial Planning Certification. After working as a paralegal and legal secretary, in 1990 she began her career in the financial services industry in which she worked for nearly 23 years. She was a key member of Smart Investor, an independent Registered Investment Advisory firm in Rocklin since its inception. She was known for her love of animals: she provided love and care to several stray cats throughout her life. As a former Board member and Treasurer for Animal Save in Nevada County, she advocated for the provision of medical care and shelter for disadvantaged animals. She loved music, gardening, and walking the trails in the foothills around her home in Grass Valley. Most dear to her were her solitary trips to the northern coast of California.
Chris is survived by her mother Della Braga, her brother and sister-in-law Frank and Marcia Braga of Grass Valley, and her brother Richard Braga of Big Bear, along with several other relatives and friends who were blessed to know her.
A memorial service celebrating Chris' life will be held on Saturday, March 16 at 1:00 p.m. at 17301 Indian Springs Ranch Road in Grass Valley, Calif. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Sammie's Friends, a non-profit corporation that provides shelter and care for Nevada County animals, located at 14647 McCourtney Road, Grass Valley, CA 95949.
