In loving memory
of our MOM
Jean A Latimer
7/29/1934 - 6/15/2013

Jean (Jeannie) was the only child of Albert and Jean Meskunas, and grew up in Cleveland Ohio. Jeannie and Carroll were married in September 1953 and in the New Year they moved to Alberta, Canada to join Carroll's brother Louis in raising purebred Shorthorns and Polled Herefords under the farm name of Remitall Cattle Colo. This was quite the learning curve for Jeannie, which she did with determination. They raised their six children here until they moved to California in 1976. While in Canada Jean was involved with many organizations from the Shorthorn Lassies, Figure Skating, and of course any school camps we went to. Mom learned to be an excellent cook - one of her claims to fame, anyone who came in our door always was invited to our table for a meal or fresh baking to enjoy.
After moving to California Carroll and Jean started a new era, Sierra Polled Herefords. Again, Jean was involved with any organization that involved cattle or her children. From FFA, Hereford Pollettes, Placer/Nevada Cattlewomen, she always went above and beyond holding many key positions. Jean followed her passion and devoted her life to giving to her family, friends and the organization she belonged to.
Jean (Jeannie) worked for many years at K-Mart in Auburn, they were like family to her. Whatever she did or which organization she was a member of; she made life long friends.
One of Mom's passions was Music and Singing, you could hear her humming or singing as she worked in the kitchen. She continued to enjoy music and song at The Terraces where she especially enjoyed Karaoke.
Her parents, her husband and partner Carroll, two Grandsons and son-in-law, predeceased her. She leaves to celebrate her life - six children: Laurie, Peggy (Rod), Alan (LouAnn), Barb (Jack), Janet (Don) and Jim; 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, the many friends she made over the years and most recently the support of special friend Barbara Detwiller.
We will all remember the twinkle in her eye as each grandchild came along and even more when the great-grandchildren came. They all brought her so much joy. Our brother summed it up in two words "tenacious and nurturing" that was our MOM.
Join us at the celebration of her life on July 8, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the Sierra Building at the Auburn Fair Grounds, Auburn Calif.
