Lee Ish

Lydia "Lee" Burak Ish passed peacefully surrounded by family on October 31, 2012 in Citrus Heights, California, at the age of 88 after a period of failing health.
Lee was born on October 11, 1924 in Yonkers, New York, to Matthew and Maria Burak. She graduated from Yonkers High School in 1942. After studying retailing at Yonkers High School of Commerce and holding a clerical position at New York University, Lee served in the United States Marine Corps from April 1945 to July 1946 and was honorably discharged as a corporal holding a clerical position in Washington D.C. She was married to Victor A. Ish of Winters, California on November 15, 1947 in Phoenix, Arizona. They later lived in Denver, Colorado, as well as Sacramento, Monterey, and Auburn, California.
After several years as a school registrar, Lee worked as a Real Estate Agent and Broker for most of her career in Monterey and Carmel, California, and loved to shop in the boutique-laden area. Lee and Vic were members of the First Presbyterian Church of Monterey. Upon retiring in Auburn, California, Lee was active with several friends in the First Congregational Church of Auburn, while retaining her favorite life-long activity of discovering new recipes and cooking-especially for holiday family gatherings.
