Born in Ponca City, Oklahoma March 15, 1937; died November 17, 2013, in Sacramento, Calif. Beloved Mother, Sister, and Nana. She grew up in Ophir, Calif., the oldest child of Lenn and Edna Burge. She is survived by siblings Jackie Miller, Janet Virgil, Kay Burge Avila and Neal Burge, her children Charles Hardy, Kevin Hardy, Linda Hardy, and Julia Thomas, her grandchildren Charles and Alexis Thomas, Brie, Autumn, Spencer, Kendall and Gracie Hardy, and great-grandaughter Leilani Bear.
Nancy earned her B.A. in Social work from California State University in 1988. Nancy was dedicated to serving the needs of others through Hospice Care, and over many years assisted families. Her work at Pioneer House touched residents and co-workers alike. Nancy will be remembered for her happy smile, her amazing cooking skills, her love of her garden sanctuary... but even more for her deep love for her family. She adored each and every grandchild and was Leilani's Grammy-Nana. She was the rock of our family and she beat cancer but was weary and needed to rest. A Memorial Service was held at St. Pauls Episcopal Church in Sacramento on November 22, 2013.
