Phil passed away at his at home in Loomis with his wife Joan at his side. Phil was a loving, devoted husband and father. His gentle nature and warm smile added to whom many considered to be one of the kindest people they'd ever met. He was a truly happy man. After his family, Phil's true love was Lot 10, the cabin his parents built at Wrights Lake in 1922. There he taught his family the love of the Sierras, for which they are forever grateful. Phil attended Sacramento State, where he obtained a Masters degree in Psychology. He worked as a teacher in the Arcade School District from 1952 to 1960, and as an administrator in the Research and Evaluation Department for the San Juan Unified School District from 1960 until his retirement in 1985.
He is survived by his wife Joan of 58 years, daughter Debbie (Steve,) sons David (Cecilia,) Peter, and Gary (Kathy,) and five grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, MaryAlice Bader. Preceded in death by his grandson Ian Moreno-Oakes.
