Arthur Ventura, 79, unexpectedly passed
away on Monday, July 9th. He was a gentle,
kind soul whose deep faith in Jesus Christ
provides comfort to the loved ones he leaves
behind.
Born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska on April 15,
1939 Art was the son of Jesus and Raquel
(Fonseca) Ventura. He was the seventh child
of ten children. Art graduated from Scottsbluff
High School in May of 1958. He worked most of
his life as an electrician. He was a journeyman
electrician for the Jeffco Public School District
for over 24 years, from June, 1980 until his
retirement in September of 2004.
Art married Mary Helen Martinez in
September, 1961. From this union, he had two
sons: Len Ventura (Longmont) and Darren
Ventura (Broomfield). They divorced in March,
1968. In 1982 he met Zona Ghost Bird. They
married in 1983 and shared over thirty two
years of marriage before Zona preceded him in
death in 2015.
Art was a devout Catholic, spending quite
a bit of time at his church, Immaculate Heart
of Mary Catholic Parish. He enjoyed any and
all things related to the Denver Broncos, and
watching his children and grandchildren at
their sporting events. Art also had a fondness
for old Western movies, and long visits with
dear friends and family.
Art is survived by his children, Len Ventura,
Darren (Colette) Ventura, step daughter
Rose Leading Fighter (Reynold Richards
Sr.), grandchildren, Justin Adams, Leonard
Adams, Connor Ventura, Bryn Ventura, Hayley
Ventura, Clarence Leading Fighter, Wayne and
Devin Richards. Great-grandchildren Aspen
and Brooke Adams . He was predeceased by
his wife, Zona Ghost Bird, his parents Jesus and
Raquel Ventura, his brothers Jesse Ventura,
Harvey Ventura, Floyd Ventura, Eddie Ventura
and Alfred Ventura, and his sisters Margaret
(Ventura) Solis, Lupe (Ventura) Laso, Esther
(Ventura) Tafallo and Inez (Ventura) Wilson.
The Rosary Service will be Tuesday, July
17th at 7 p.m. The Funeral Service will be
Wednesday, July 18th at 10:30 a.m. There
is a visitation one hour before both the
Rosary and Funeral Service. The Rosary and
Funeral Service will be held at Immaculate
Heart of Mary Catholic Parish, 11385 Grant
Dr. Northglenn, CO 80233. The Committal
Service will be at 1 p.m. on July 18th, at Olinger
Highland Mortuary & Cemetery 10201 Grant
Street, Thornton, CO 80229.
