Michael Dale Keesling, 60, passed away Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, at Texoma Medical Center, Denison, Texas.
Mr. Keesling was a veteran of 32 years' service in the Kansas Highway Patrol, the last 12 of which were with the Drug Enforcement Agency's Joint Task Force. He was the lead investigator on nearly 300 investigations. He was also directly responsible for the seizure of more than $9 million dollars connected with the drug trade. He retired from the Patrol as a Technical Trooper in 2008, and moved to Hot Springs Village, Ark., where he spent his remaining years.
He was a member of the Patriot Guard motorcycle club and the Gold Wing Road Riders Association of Hot Springs Village. He was also a member of two golf groups in Hot Springs Village, The Wild Bunch and the Nine Holers.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Diane Keesling; daughters Tara Keesling of Garden City, Kan., and Devi McHugh of Pottsboro, Texas; two sons, Aaron Keesling of Hot Springs, Ark. and Dustin Carr of Rossville, Kan.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his mother Phyllis Richards of Woodland Park, CO and brothers Jim of Hot Springs Village, AR, and Dave of Woodland Park, CO.
It was his wish that there be no funeral, and that he be remembered with joy rather than sorrow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Mike's name to the Kansas Trooper's Fund, 1200 SW 10th Avenue, Topeka, Kansas 66604.
