Sara was born in Benson Minnesota
along with 6 sisters to Gilman and
Gertrude Ulrickson. She was baptized
at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in
Minnesota. Even though Sara was
only 11 years of age when the family
relocated in Colorado in 1954, she
could recall many memories of the
farm in Minnesota.
She went to school in Douglas
County and then met her first love,
(Vern) Moore and married in 1963.
In 1968, Travis was born, and in
1971 Juleen was born. Sara and Vern
owned and Operated "Moore Sanitation"
for 14 years in Castle Rock. In
1984, the family moved to Larkspur
and Sara went to work for Douglas
County Schools in Operations and
Management. She was forced to retire
after only 7 years due to an injury
which caused her a disability. Her and
Vern later divorced in 1990.
Sara remained in Larkspur when she
met her second love, Charles (Lucky)
Lucasi. They married in 1992. Sara
learned to embrace and follow her
dreams. She started writing the very
first Larkspur newspaper. It was all
handwritten and she would make
copies and pass them out. This is now
part of the Douglas County Historical
Society. She wrote and published
3 childrens books inspired by her
grandchildren. She then went further
and wrote and copywrited music. She
had a special gift with people and
could talk with anyone and make
anyone around her smile. On visits
to Montana to see her daughter, she
would stop in the Crow Reservation
and browse their gift shop. She was
told many times that she had a beautiful
Aura surrounding her. Charles
passed away in 2004 and Sara never
remarried. She continued to pursue
her dreams never leaving Colorado.
