Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you.
-Psalm 63:3

Wanda Stewart Christensen, 49, passed from this earth into the arms of her precious Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at 5:56am peacefully in her bed in Parker, CO surrounded by her husband, daughters, father and sisters.
She was born Wanda Faye Stewart on February 19, 1964 to Wandall Winston and Nelly Don Stewart in Ashland, Kentucky. Wanda attended Paul G. Blazer High School, Eastern Kentucky University and received a Bachelor of Sociology Degree from Alderson Broaddus College in 1986. Wanda was married to Eric Joren Christensen on August 8, 1987.
Wanda was a 3rd grade school teacher at Achiever Christian School from 1997-2006 and is fondly remembered by her students for helping them learn their Bible memory verses to musical tunes that Wanda wrote. Many of those students still remember those cherished verses today. Wanda worked from 2008-2010 at Greenwood Pediatrics in Centennial, CO as a Patient Representative.
Wanda had an angelic singing voice and won various talent/beauty pageants. She was crowned Miss Flame in a local pageant in Catlettsburg, Ky in 1980, won Ashland Area Junior Miss and made it to the top 10 of Kentucky State Junior Miss Pageant.
Wanda attended Alderson Broaddus College, a small private Christian college in Philipi, West Virginia. Her fondest memories in college were with the school's traveling music group, The West Virginian's. Being accepted into the group provided her a full scholarship. The West Virginian's were ambassadors for the college and therefore traveled all over the country.
After college, in the fall of 1986, not knowing where her life was heading, she ended up at a concert with a Christian evangelistic music organization called the Continental Singers. At the end of the concert she went to the front for an on-the-spot audition. She was quickly offered a first soprano part in the group and accepted the position to serve around the United States and throughout Western Europe. She met her future husband of 26 years, Joren, on that tour.
After her wedding to Joren in 1987, she dedicated her life to serving Christ as a part of music and worship teams at various churches throughout her adult life.
Wanda is survived by her husband Joren, their daughters Jessica & Bethany Christensen and their 3 dogs & 1 cat, Buddy, Marcie, Phoebe and Mew Mew. She is also survived by her father, Wandall Stewart but was preceded in death by her mother, Nelly Stewart. She is survived by her brother-in-law and sister, Carl and Sherida Bias, brother-in-law and sister, Steve and Anna McAllister, and by brothers and sisters-in-law, Jeff & Erika Christensen, Jasen & Jade Christensen, Joel & Shiree Christensen and parents-in-law, Jack & Judie Christensen and George & Joan Robillard. She had 13 nephews and nieces and 3 grand nephews and nieces. A memorial service was held at Parker Evangelical Presbyterian Church on November 18, 2013.
