Robert Lee Obituary
Robert William Lee, 89 of Lafayette, passed away on Monday, February 11, 2013. Bob was born on October 28, 1923 in Denver, Colorado, the only child of the late William "Bill" and Leona (Osborne) Lee, spending his growing years in Denver, except one year in California. He graduated from East High School. Bob joined the Army Air Force in World War II and served on the island of Guam in the Pacific. After his service he went to work for Mountain Bell Company and retired after over 35 years, ending up in the Reuse Group in Denver. He was sent, temporarily, to Lafayette, CO, and remained there for the rest of his life. He married Arlee Pendell of the Rex Community, Washington March 23, 2946. They then returned to Colorado. Bob was a 65 year member of Mile High VFW Post #1771, as well as past Commander and past Quartermaster for over 27 years. The Post, which was sold recently, was built during his term as Commander in 1972-73. He was a life member of the Lafayette Masonic Lodge #91 and Excelsior #66. He served as a Lafayette Council Member, and was mayor for a term, as well as a past member of the Lions Club, and worked with the Boy Scouts of Lafayette. Some of Bob's greatest joys were walking Caleb to school, attending all his sports activities, dancing, growing a garden, and traveling. Bob is survived by his wife, Arlee Lee of Lafayette; three children, Virginia Lee of Italy, David Lee of Grand Junction, and Carol Lee of Aurora; two granddaughters, Andrea Horton and Reland Maybon; three great grandchildren, Caleb Wells, Jordyn and Jake Horton, all of Alabama; and many relatives and friends. A funeral service with military honors will be conducted at 11:00am Monday, February 18, 2013 in the chapel of Darrell Howe Mortuary, with a reception to follow at the Lafayette United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 17, from 3:00 - 5:00pm at the funeral home. The family thanks Life Care of Longmont for the excellent love and care that Bob received during his stay, and to the many friends and family. Contributions may be made to the Mile High Auxiliary #1771, Relief Fund for Veterans' Use, 410 W. Chester Street, Lafayette, CO 80026, or to the charity of your choice, in memory of Bob.
