Florence F. (Johnson) Ferguson, born May 27, 1922, passed away on Nov. 3, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; sons Larry R. Ferguson of Littleton and Alan K. Ferguson of Idaho Falls, Idaho. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Jeanene and Patrick Smith of Denver; daughters-in-law Jan Ferguson of Littleton and Wanda Ferguson of Cheyenne, Wyo.; grandsons David Ferguson and Chris Ferguson of Littleton; grandchildren Kathy Cox, Scott Bates, Gary Bates, Cozette Allen, Linda Scott, Rona Williams and their respective families. Florence will also be lovingly remembered by her many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and also by her treasured friends.
She was born at home in Macksville, Kan., and grew up in Zook and Larned, Kan., and Lamar, Colo. She married Ray Ferguson on Dec. 29, 1943, at Fort Logan Army Base. They lived in Leawood from 1962 to 1992. She spent the majority of her working life as a telephone operator at Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph Co., Presbyterian Hospital and Stearns Roger.
A dedicated lifetime Democrat, Mrs. Ferguson loved following politics. She was an avid reader and kept a fastidious home. Florence loved traveling with her husband, and San Francisco and Las Vegas were favorite destinations. She enjoyed crocheting, lovingly crafting more than 100 afghans for family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at Bullock Colonial Chapel, 1375 Hampden Ave. in Englewood. A private interment ceremony will be held at Chapel Hill Cemetery's Cremation Garden at a later date.
